Kagoshima Sencha Sae Midori
While I wasn’t really looking for another deep steamed green tea (fukamushi-cha), I was sent a sample of a very stellar green tea that I simply could not pass up. Introducing Kagoshima Sencha “Sae Midori”. A few notes regarding this item. First, Sae Midori is a cross between the common Yabukita and Asa Tsuyu varieties of green tea. This item was registered in 1990, so it’s reletively new. It is known to have an exceptional green color, strong grassy aroma, and is rather “sweet” (not bitter). All definitely apply to this awesome green tea we are now offering. About the only weak point of this green tea, from a farmer’s perspective anyway, is that it is highly susceptible to frost damage, thus it’s mostly grown on the southern tip of Kagoshima prefecture. So if you “color” and grassy aroma is your thing, this Kagoshima Sencha should please you.
